Position Overview:
The Warehouse Associate at Harvey Industries International is responsible for supporting daily operations in the warehouse, including receiving, storing, and shipping products. The role requires an organized and detail-oriented individual who can work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Warehouse Associate ensures that inventory is accurate, orders are fulfilled correctly, and safety protocols are followed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and Unloading:
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments for accuracy and quality.
- Unload trucks and move materials to the appropriate storage areas.
- Verify packing lists and update inventory records accordingly.
- Inventory Management:
- Organize and maintain warehouse inventory to ensure accurate counts and easy access.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and report discrepancies to the Warehouse Manager.
- Use inventory management systems and equipment to keep track of materials and finished goods.
- Order Fulfillment:
- Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment according to specifications.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of all outbound shipments, including proper labeling and packaging.
- Load outgoing shipments onto trucks in a timely manner.
- Shipping and Documentation:
- Prepare shipping documents such as bills of lading and invoices.
- Coordinate with logistics companies and carriers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
- Update records for outgoing shipments, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with regulations.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and proper handling of materials.
- Report any workplace hazards or unsafe conditions to the Warehouse Supervisor.
- Ensure that the warehouse remains clean, organized, and free of obstructions to comply with safety standards.
- Equipment Operation:
- Operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
- Perform regular maintenance checks on equipment and report any issues to management.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with production, shipping, and receiving teams to ensure efficient workflow.
- Communicate any inventory or shipment issues with the Warehouse Supervisor and other relevant departments.
- Assist with special projects, such as warehouse organization or process improvement initiatives, as directed by management.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with cycle counts, stock checks, and other inventory-related tasks as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts to optimize warehouse processes and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in a warehouse, shipping, or logistics environment, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
- Forklift certification (preferred) or the ability to become certified.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with inventory management systems and Microsoft Office.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good physical condition, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with shipping software and logistics systems.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing practices or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects, bend, reach, and stand for long periods.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks.
- Occasional exposure to varying weather conditions in warehouse and loading areas.
